Build the range around everyday use
A good shelving product begins with the objects it will hold and the place it will stand. Shelf depth, clear spacing, overall footprint and access are useful starting points. The connection details, finish and packing then need to support that use as well as the way the product will be distributed.

Resolve construction before the final appearance
- Dimensions. Define the overall size and the usable shelf areas, including important clearances.
- Structure. Record the bamboo construction, connection method and hardware that form the approved design.
- Finish. Agree the colour range, edge treatment, visible joint quality and surface reference.
- Assembly. Confirm whether the item arrives assembled or requires customer assembly, and review the instructions and component identification.
Test the intended configuration
Use a representative sample to assess assembly, stability, access and the planned use. Performance requirements, including any load or stability tests, should be defined for the actual design and destination market. A load rating needs supporting evidence; it should not be estimated from a product image or from another shelf in the range.
Where the product has multiple sizes, check which features are shared and which need their own approval. A change to height, hardware or shelf span can affect more than the appearance. Keep those decisions visible in the product record.
Include packing in the product development
Review protection for corners, finished surfaces and hardware. For a knock-down product, check how the customer finds the parts and follows the assembly steps. Carton markings and private-label elements should be approved with the final specification.
